N3Creative Chromaluxe Prints
Dye-sublimation is a process that let’s us reproduce photo-lab-quality images on various substrates. In dye-sublimation printing, colors are not laid down as individual dots like they are in a traditional or inkjet prints. You can actually see these dots and they tend to make your digital prints look less realistic.
Dye sublimation is different because the process is driven by heat. Solid dyes are heated to the point where they are vaporized and transferred into the surface of the substrate that you’ve chosen. The dyes permeate the surface before they return to solid form. The vaporized colors permeate the surface coating on the substrate and form a smooth gradation at the edge of each pixel which creates a gentle transition between each bit of color as it’s applied. The end result is a print that is visually much closer to a traditional photographic print with rich color saturation and exceptional detail.
Chromaluxe substrates are coated with a receiving compound that captures the vaporized inks underneath the actual surface. This makes these materials exceptionally durable and colorfast with color stability that rivals archival prints on traditional papers. Add to that the ability to clean these prints with common household cleaners/germicides and you have a material that is perfect for long term institutional use.
